This is a En PLein Air Project I began while stay close to home was in effect. I am documenting the three Ecosystems, Blackland Prairie, and Upland Forest and Riparian Forest areas. This is an unusual 200 acre park in Denton County on the west side of Plano, Texas. I am blessed to have discovered those ecosystems before knowing why the area felt so special to me. When I found out that the Upland Forest is unusual for this area, I decided the trails and ecosystems were worth documenting. I started with the Blackland Prairie, (not pictured here) and then after a few paintings near parking lot began documenting The Riparian Forest. The painting I am entering in the contest for this entry is Creekside at Indian Creek. This painting was done in the off road bike path at Arbor Hills Nature Trail.
I went of the bike path until I found a spot by Indian Creek that was near the bird sanctuary portion of the bike paths. The other painting's just for additional documentation of my project,
This project is fun because I document where I paint in my En Plein Air Notebook, as well as their trail map. Eventually, I hope to have a whole show documenting the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, complete with small En Plein Air Paintings and some bigger En Plein Air Plus Paintings that showcase my favorite parts of each Ecosystem.
