Pastel seascape on sanded paper with an alcohol underpainting. Newburyport, Memorial Day 2017. Very cold, water, bright harsh light. On site sketches and photos allowed me a strong visual and sensory memory of place. This is a studio piece based on those references. Title refers to the musical notation denoting brisk, upbeat rhythm, which was the mood of the ocean that morning.
