Pflugerville Creek at Dawn

My wife found this beautiful scene in our local community. She took the picture for me on one of her early walks just as the sun came out on a cloudy day. I was so inspired that I started in the studio immediately after she showed me. I worked on it all day then decided that I would wait until the exact weather came back. I then went out there early one morning before the sun came out to refine and really capture the mood. I decided to use an expressionistic style to draw attention to the large flat planes and to convey the move that I felt. I was a great experience to be able to submerge myself like that after first working in the studio and I think it gave me great result. You see I normally start pleinair painting on site then refine them in the studio but this type reversing the process helped me really capture what I was trying to express to the viewers.
