Ski In Ski Out - Spring Skiing in the Sierra Mountains

This is one of the Virginia Lakes in Mono County, California. It is an incredibly beautiful basin of lakes, in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, I visited with my husband an avid backcountry skier. We camped and when he skied, I painted (next to a campfire as it was 12 degrees out first thing in the morning!!) What I wanted to capture, besides the ABSOLUTE pristine beauty of the place was the morning sun light! I loved how and where it struck the hill highlighting the tracks of skiers exiting their backcountry experience, lots of tracks from happy skiers, many of whom were medical professionals taking advantage of a few days away from their jobs dealing with Covid 19!
