Bark Lake Canoe

Our paint group typically meets at Bark Lake in Ontario. My favourite part is getting up early when everything is still, when the mist hovers over the water. The camp is often used during the summer for kids programs and they have these wonderful canoes with such character. This capture in watercolour was in the height of the fall colour. What could be more perfect!
After preserving the dock and canoe with masking, I tinted the light areas of sky and mist first and allowed to dry. Then proceeded to build the background and work foreword in the painting process until I was finally able to add all the details to the boat and dock in watercolour.
