Beachlife

This is an oilpainting on panel. I like to study and paint rocks and boulders, their surface and all life on them. There is so much to see. I use a lot of paint to create and sculpt textures and I like to stretch the limits of the paint. I do pleinair studies and sketches and build up my paintings in the studio, in many layers. I approach the stones in my paintings like portraits, all with their own character, scars and history. I graduated the Classical Academy of Fine Art Groningen last year and was granted the 'Prix the Norvège' for my graduation series of rocks and trees.
