This locomotive is Pere Marquette 1225, owned and operated by the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, Michigan. It is the real life Polar Express train. Hollywood visited Owosso and modeled the locomotive and recorded it's sounds for the film Polar Express. I love painting old steam trains as I find them very evocative of the past- and somehow mysterious.
