Rockaway Beach Surfer, Pacifica California

This painting was executed primarily in gouache and watercolor on paper in my studio. I composed this from a series of studies of surfers and seascape drawings in pen and pencil during my visits to Rockaway Beach in Pacifica California. The waves can get pretty wild out there. I was so impressed by surfers of all ages that brave the waves. This artwork was part of a juried competition for "Postcards to Pacifica" which celebrated the various locations around the town and shoreline. My artwork was featured as one of the postcard scenes.
