Survivor 2020

This painting is a portrait of a 93-year-old woman who fled Austria under Nazi occupation as a young girl. Her family ended up in Shanghai, which was under Japanese rule. Finally, she came to the U.S. as a young woman and found peace and happiness. She worked hard to earn a Ph.D. in psychology and helped many clients over her long career. Now she feels stuck again between the threat of the political and global health crisis. However, she shows us her courage and optimism with her adoring smile and wisdom that shines through her.
